Koraput: Two hardcore Maoists involved in murder and other offences were arrested by security personnel during a combing operation in Narayanpatna area of Koraput district, police said on Saturday.
The Maoists, identified as Rupana Mandingi and Madhaba Habika of Srikakulam-Koraput Joint Division Committee (SKDC) of CPI (Maoist), were caught during a joint combing by BSF jawans and police personnel yesterday, they said.
"Mandingi has at least eight cases registered against him and Habika was in our wanted list for his involvement in as many as five cases," said Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Laxmipur, Y Jagannath Rao.
Police said during interrogation Mandingi confessed to his involvement in the murder of one Nityananda Melka in 2009 and attacking the Narayanpatna police station the same year.
Similarly, Habika has admitted his participation in the murder of at least three persons, including the killing of BSF jawans Xaviar Kindo in 2012, they added.
