Bhubaneswar: With most parts of Odisha still sweltering under severe heat wave condition and high humidity, the State government has decided to extend summer vacation for all educational institutions by five days.

Schools and colleges in the State would open on June 23, said Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Mohapatra.

The educational institutions have been closed due to summer holidays for the last one and half months.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said there would be slight delay in the onset of monsoon in the state. It is now expected to hit Odisha by
Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the online counselling for Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) began from today.

The selected students have to register themselves for online counselling and provide their choice of colleges.

Twenty-five nodal centres have been selected across the State for counselling.

Students can visit www.ojee.nic.in and register themselves by entering their name, roll number, rank, and application number on the website.

Sources said in the first phase the counselling will be done for lateral entry candidates choosing engineering subjects. During the end of next week
the counselling for other subjects such as MBA, MCA, MTech, MPharma, BAMS, BHMS and pharmacy will be done.

If the candidates do not find a suitable college, they can opt out of the online counselling process, said Priyabrata Sahu, secretary, OJEE.
