Bhubaneswar: With two more days left for the end of canvassing for second phase polls in the state, Odisha Congress has geared up to maximize its reach to the voters and hope that Congress heir-apparent Rahul Gandhi’s Monday rally in Jagatsinghpur would raise the winnability of its aspirants.

The Congress party’s second-in-command is scheduled to address a public rally at the Nabakrushna Chaudhury field at Jagatsinghpur, informed party’s Odisha in-charge BK Hariprasad.

“The voters of the district as well as the nearby areas are very much excited to see the youth icon and we hope a very heavy footfall at the ground on Monday,” Hariprasad said adding in the ensuing election all the party candidates would win with sizeable margin.

Rahul who is visiting the state for the second time in the past fortnight, would highlight the party’s concern for the poor and downtrodden, a Congress worker stated.

During his public rallies in Koraput and Nabrangpur on March 31, the Gandhi scion had accused the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government of hijacking the credit for the work done through the welfare programmes of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government,

The Congress vice-president too had claimed the state is ruled by “mine mafia” and not by the people’s representatives.

“The state government is run by the mine mafia and not by leaders. Valuable minerals worth thousands of crore rupees are looted and state government is aware about it,” Gandhi had alleged at a public meeting at Semiliguda in the tribal-dominated Koraput district.
