Bhubaneswar: After much hue and cry over allegations of misuse of government land allotted for the purpose of establishing hospitals, Odisha government has finally woken up to the charges and sent a show-cause notice to Revenue Minister Bijoyshree Routray’s wife for violating the land lease agreement.
Sources said the general administration (GA) department has served the notice on the minister’s wife asking her to reply as to why the land lease agreement would not be cancelled.
It is worth mentioning the GA department found in a Revenue Inspector probe on June 30, 2014, the land, on which a two-storey house has been built, was originally allotted to the minister’s wife to set up a nursing home.
However, the allottee Dr Jyoti Routray has been residing in the building with her family instead of establishing a hospital on the allotted plot violating the agreement norms.
Meanwhile, sources said a sign board has been put up in front of the revenue minister’s house mentioning that a nursing home is functioning on the same building. On that board the names of the minister’s wife who is a doctor by profession and some other specialists are written giving ample hints that attempts are being made to reopen the nursing home.
