Balasore: The stalemate at Remuna Community Healthcare Centre (CHC) ended after 12 hours as the outpatient department (OPD) which was locked by attendants last night was opened today.

Medical services at the CHC were affected after a few attendants ransacked the hospital property and later locked the OPD protesting absence of doctors from duty yesterday.

Tension ran high as resentment also brewed among the patients as no step was allegedly taken by the concerned authorities to resume the medical services at the hospital. As a result, a lot of patients seeking urgent medical attention faced problems today.

In view of this, a temporary camp was set up this morning outside the OPD and vaccination room where one doctor and a pharmacist and few other staff were engaged to facilitate emergency services.

However, the locks of the OPD were finally opened after police held discussions with Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) and other employees of the hospital.

The hospital authorities could not be contacted over the issue.
