Keonjhar: After spending days in abject poverty following the death of their father, the plight of three minor children from Purunapani Juangasahi finally caught the attention of Keonjhar district administration.

As per reports, the administration with assistance from Childline officials rehabilitated the siblings- Ashok, Sushant and their sister Nandini at a voluntary organisation in Telkoi block.

Earlier, OTV had telecast a report regarding the plight of the minor children particularly the eldest of the siblings- Ashok, who had taken a loan of Rs 1,000 from a neighbour to perform the last rites of his father Manu Juanga last month. Unable to repay the amount, Ashok was forced to graze goats by the concerned neighbour.

Ashok’s mother Rashmi had died of snake bite in 2018. After being orphaned, Ashok was facing numerous problems in looking after his two other siblings.

“We are happy that the kids have been rehabilitated with us and we will take necessary steps for their upbringing,” said Manoj Parida, a senior official of the NGO (RVDO).
