Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel today organized its maiden marathon Run-a-thon in the State which witnessed a large number of participants spreading awareness on fitness and health among people.

As many as 3,144 participants took part in the event which was divided into four categories, an official release said.

In the 10 km run category, Sukumati Laguri and Pravesh Sini were declared as the winners in female and male division respectively, and awarded Rs 51,000 each.

Similarly, Asisha Maharana and Suraj Budra emerged as the winners in 7-km corporates and institutions category respectively, to bag cash prizes of Rs 15,000 each.

In the 5-km race, which was open for school children only, Jayasen Raita and Hare Krushna Manda topped the winners’ list. Iti Sahoo and Bibhudendu Panda won in the 5-km citizens walk category.

Speaking on the occasion, Arun Misra, vice president, Gopalpur project of Tata Steel, said, “The company is committed to make it a landmark event in the sporting calendar of Odisha in the coming days”.
