Bhubaneswar: Chancellor of Universities and Odisha Governor S C Jamir today appointed Prof Chitta Ranjan Tripathy as the new vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University.

Prof Tripathy is currently serving as professor in the department of computer science and engineering.

Jamir appointed Prof Tripathy as the new VC of Sambalpur university after interacting with three candidates here today.

Prof Tripathy has 53 research publications and 69 other publications, a release issued by the Raj Bhavan said here adding that he has successfully guided eight scholars in their Ph. D activities.

Tripathy is a well known academician who had earlier remained in-charge of the VC of Vir Surendra Sai University, Sambalpur in 2011.
