New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised an Odia woman who prepared the people of a malaria-infested-village to fight the deadly disease.

In his Mann Ki Baat radio programme ,Modi appreciated Jamunamani Singh, an ASHA worker of Balasore district for her efforts to make her locality a malaria free area.

“Jamunamani Singh with her full dedication and extra ordinary efforts prepared the people in her locality to fight malaria,” PM said during the radio programme. “She spread awareness about precautions and helped the entire village during tough times”, Modi pointed out.

Meanwhile, Singh, a native of Tenda village of Balasore, was seen most excited during her reaction to OTV after PM’s appreciation.

“I never expected that Prime Minister will recognize my service. Tears of joy are shedding from my eyes. This is God’s blessing only”, an inexpressive Jamunamani told OTV.

“The PM’s appreciation would encourage me to provide more service to the people”, she said.
Jamunamani was awarded by the Odisha government on Independence Day for her effort to eradicate malaria in her locality.
