Bhubaneswar: The passengers would no more get bored in waiting lobby at Biju Patnaik International Airport here before boarding their respective flights.

The airport authorities are planning to showcase Odisha's classical dances including odissi, gotipua, sambalpuri at the airport terminal for the entertainment of passengers. The flyers can also interact with the artistes and take selfie, airport director Sharad Kumar said.

"The Tourism department of Odisha government wants to display the rich cultural heritage of the State through this programme thereby entertaining the passengers and promoting Odisha's rich culture and tradition", Kumar added.

The famous sand art of Odisha, which has already obtained a global name, would also be placed in the programme menu on the terminal premises. The sculpture with special theme would be changed in every 10 or 15 days.

"As the sand art has become a major event of Odisha tourism, plans are afoot to show-case the sculpture at airport terminal. Two or three arts would be created on popular themes in a month", State Tourism minister Ashok Panda said.
