Bhubaneswar: The State’s chief secretary GC Pati today directed developers of a mega food park in Rayagada to submit a road map for completion and commissioning of the project indicating timeline against each of the components.

In a review meeting chaired by Pati at the Secretariat here, project developers were asked to install rain water harvesting structures and be self sufficient in water management without using the ground water.

Principal Secretary Agriculture Rajesh Verma, who was present in the meeting, was directed to take up definite action plan for linking the farmers with the park and mobilising them to cultivate export quality paddy with buy-back arrangements. Besides, IDCO was advised to expedite the works relating to power connection to the project.

Notably, a special purpose vehicle has been formed under the name MITS Mega Food Park Ltd with IDCO, BCT, Kevenetor Agro and Expo Biotech as partners to develop the project. The park is being developed over 50 acres of land with approved cost of Rs 80.17 cr.

The food park will have core processing facilities, factory building & MS&ME sheds, modern paddy processing complex, pack house complex, cold storages, dry warehouse complex, quality facilitation lab and food incubation center and multi fruit processing complex.

Among others development commissioner U.N. Behera, MS&ME secretary Panchanana, IDCO CMD Vishal Dev and other senior officers from concerned departments and the project developers were present in meeting.
