Bhubaneswar: The public sector power major NTPC is all set to start construction work for its proposed medical college hospital in Sundergarh district from August 15.

This was informed to the State government when NTPC chairman-cum-managing director (CMD) Arup Roy Choudhury along with his officers met chief minister Naveen Patnaik here today.

NTPC made a presentation before the State government officials on the proposed 500-bed medical college hospital project to be implemented at an investment of Rs 400 crore, a release issued by the chief minister's office said.

Noted architect Hafeez Contractor had been assigned for designing the proposed five-storied medical college hospital at Sundergarh, it said adding there would be facilities for 500 medical students, staff and others.

The built up area of the medical college hospital would be 1,30,000 sq m.

The proposed health service institute with a campus area of about 21 acres, would have at least seven super specialisation departments, the release added.
