Cuttack: Hosts Odisha lost to Uttar Pradesh by 32 runs in their second match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Group-D League at Barabati Stadium here on Sunday.

Put into bat, UP made 150 runs in 20 overs losing five wickets with Prashant Gupta (53), Ekalavya Dwidevy (47), Samarth Singh (23) and Piyush Chawla (12) being the major contributors.

For Odisha, Alok Sahu and Biplab Samantray claimed two wickets each while Deepak Behera got one wicket.

Chasing the target, Odisha lost wickets at regular intervals. Barring P Roshan Kumar Rao, who scored the highest 31 not out, and Govind Poddar (22), Alok Sahoo (17) and Abhishek Yadav (11), the rest of the batsmen failed to score double figure as the team managed to reach 118 from 20 overs.

For UP, Piyush Chawala, Amit Mishra and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets each while Praveen Kumar and Ankit Rajput shared one wicket each.

With this win, UP bagged 4 points while the host went without any points.

This was the second defeat for Odisha in the tournament. The hosts had lost to Mumbai by six wickets at the same venue on Saturday.
