Rayagada: Acting on a tip-off, district police raided a Maoist camp at Semalabhatta under Lanjigarh police limits and seized explosives and walkie-talkie sets, said superintendent of police K Shiva Subramani here today.
Heavy exchange of fire ensued between the ultras and police. Maoists who were present in the camp belonged to Bansadhara-Ghumusara-Nagabali division, added the SP.
Some ultras are believed to have been injured in the gunfight, he further said, adding tiffin bombs, four detonators, radio sets and Maoist posters were seized during the raid.
Yesterday night also, another exchange of fire occurred at Balasaraji village with the ultras in a joint operation of Rayagada and Kalahandi district police personnel.
