Congress to skip ‘Mandei’ fest

Nabarangpur: When the administration's all arrangements reached final stage for the famous tribal festival 'Mandei', the district unit of Congress has decided to skip the cultural extravaganza in the wake of farmers' death.

"It is shame that when farmers of the State are committing suicide due to crop failure and debt burden, how the administration is preparing to celebrate a festival?, ask Narayan Patra, district Congress committee president.

The party has questioned justification of ‘Mandei’ celebration while the farmers' future is in limbo. The grand-old party has also decided to oppose the district administration if it observes the carnival, Patra said, adding a memorandum will be submitted to the Collector in this regard.
