Bhubaneswar: In preparation for 75th Indian Road Congress in the city, chief secretary G.C. Pati directed the Works department to ensure safety of the delegates, said sources.

During a review meeting for the conference on Wednesday, Pati asked Works secretary N.K. Pradhan to share the list of participating guests and delegates with police, they added.

Besides, the chief secretary asked the department to collect and document the best practices on road safety adopted in other States and develop those for training and motivation.

Pati also ordered the State police, BMC and Fire Service as well as departments of Housing and Urban Development, Tourism and Culture, Handloom and Textiles to provide all necessary assistance for smooth and successful organisation of the national event.

Development Commissioner U.N. Behera, principal secretary (Home) C.J. Venugopal, Textile and Handloom secretary Chitra Arumugam , police commissioner R.P. Sharma were also present in the meeting.

Notably, the State capital is going to host the national conference for five days from January 18 to 22.
