Balasore/Bargarh: The spate of farmer suicide continues in Odisha as two farmers ended their lives in Balasore and Bargarh districts on Sunday.

Tarani Pariha of Biripali village under Sohola block, who consumed poison yesterday, died at the Bragarh district headquarters hospital while undergoing treatment.

Pariha took his life due to his failure to repay debt and crop loss.

Meanwhile, another farmer took the extreme step by jumping in front of a running train at Dahisara Nuagaon village in Soro of Balasore district.

The deceased farmer, identified as Paramanand Ghadei, committed suicide due to crop loss and debt burden, family members said.

Sources said he had grown paddy on five acres of land. The drought hit him hard. Unable to bear the burden of debt stress, he took the drastic step.

Notably, three more farmers on Saturday committed suicide in Kendrapara, Jharsuguda and Subarnapur districts owing to bad crops and burden of loan.
