Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Cell of Crime Branch (CB) on Thursday nabbed the prime accused in connection with uploading and circulating the morphed and derogatory images of School and Mass Education minister Rabi Narayan Nanda in the internet.

The accused has been identified as Siddhartha Shankar Pati of Jeypore who is currently staying in Cuttack.
Meanwhile the CB has forwarded the accused to the court.

"When I came to know that my son is involved in such an act, I was completely shocked. Though my son is not that kind of person, but he is a computer-savvy,” Siddhartha's father Raj Kishore Pati said.

“If he has done anything wrong, he must be punished," a visibly shaken Raj Kishore added.

On the other hand, Raj Kishore’s claim that his son is mentally retarded and is under medication for depression has given a new twist to the case.

“Last time when we had taken him (Siddharth) to Puducherry, it was very difficult for us to make him sit before the physician. Somehow we had managed then,” stated Raj Kishore adding Siddharth is in a depressed state ever since he remained unsuccessful to clear the Plus II examination.

Meanwhile, sources said, Siddhartha's family is having a good rapport with the minister as their ancestral family belongs to Jeypore, the legislator’s constituency.

On February 22, Nanda had lodged a complaint with the cyber police station in Cuttack regarding the matter.
