Bhubaneswar: As many as 319 people were tested positive for Covid-19 in Odisha in the last 24 hours, while four patients died while undergoing treatment at various hospitals during the period, as per the data revealed by the State Health department on Tuesday.

With the fresh cases, the total coronavirus tally in the State rose to 3,26,915 while the death toll mounted to 1,843.

Of the fresh cases, 184 are reported in quarantine centres while 135 positives are local contacts. Sundargarh district recorded the highest 72 new cases, followed by Angul (35), Puri (24), Khordha (23), Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur (19 each) and Bolangir (15), as per State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department.

As per the data by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department, Khordha, Jajpur, Kalahandi and Puri districts reported one death each.

The Health department has also shared the details of the patients who succumbed while undergoing treatment at hospitals during the period.

A 70-year-old male of Bhubaneswar who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension.

A 72-year-old male of Jajpur district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension.

A 77-year-old male of Kalahandi district who was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease, Chronic Liver Disease and cerebrovascular accident.

A 52-year-old male of Puri district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension.

So far, 3, 21,956 patients have recuperated from the disease in the State, while the active case count stands at 3,063. A total of 29,721 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tests to 66,65,701 in Odisha.
