Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Friday proposed the Supreme Court to hold special Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE) on September 7 to fill up vacant seats in engineering colleges across the state.

Source said while placing the special test proposal before the Apex Court, the OJEE authorities said results of the examination will be declared on September 9. Qualifiers can register themselves and download rank cards on September 10. The whole process of counselling will be done between September 10 and 12.

OJEE will place the advertisement regarding the test its website on August 30, sources added.

Earlier, the state government was not interested to conduct special test after a large number of seats remain vacant in private engineering colleges following a counselling for qualifiers of all-India JEE(Main).

The state had filed a special leave petition with the SC challenging the Orissa High Court order for conduct of a special OJEE to fill up vacant seats in the private colleges.

The apex court had stayed the conduct of special test scheduled for August 10 till further orders.
