Odisha MLA’s Video With Snake Goes Viral On Social Media

Bhubaneswar: Video of a ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA allegedly playing with a snake went viral on social media. In the 11-minute long video, MLA Sambit Routray can be seen posing on camera holding the snake.

After the video went viral on social media, Routray later clarified that the snake was non-venomous. He further stated that the snake had sneaked into his residence some two days back.

“As the reptile was non-venomous, I caught it only to create awareness that there is no need to fear or kill snakes,” said Routray.

Routray further said, “I had called and handed over the reptile to Snake Helpline members who then released it into Nandankanan. I was not playing nor would have caught the snake if it was a venomous one.”
