Bhubaneswar: Barely three days after the BJD supremo stripped off portfolios of two ministers, another minister Sarada Nayak, holding the portfolio of Housing and Urban Development on Monday was shown the door in the wake of the failed coup against the Chief Minister.

Naveen Patnaik on June 1 dismissed Women and Child Development Minister Anjali Behera and Minister of State Sanjeev Sahu and suspended MLAs Bibhuti Balwantray and Prabhat Biswal from BJD. On the same day MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra was also suspended from the party for the coup against Naveen.

Nayak was holding the excise department as an additional charge after A U Singhdeo resigned from the Cabinet after the hooch tragedy in February. "I have forwarded a letter requesting the Governor of Odisha to dismiss Sarda Prasad Nayak, minister of state for housing and urban development department," Patnaik told reporters. While Naveen will retain the Housing and Urban Development Department, the excise department will be allotted to finance minister Prafulla Ghadai.
