Bolangir: In order to beef up Maoist activities in a concentrated manner, Maoists operating in the forests of Bolangir and Nuapada have turned the region into their operational hub.
According to sources, maoists in the regions have formed a new divisional committee currently active in Bolangir’s Khaprakhol block. Since a few months, the region has been chock-a-block with Maoists messages with houses, trees and roads being plastered with Red slogans.
“It’s a strategy for Maoists to maintain consolidation where they have their presence, in which villagers are sometimes incorporated,” said Avinash Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Bolangir.
Earlier, a woman rebel was killed in police firing near Khaprakhol. SOG personnel were deployed in the area following intelligence reports suggesting suspected Maoist movement.
