Malkangiri: Senior Maoist leader Rukhdhara called for a boycott of forthcoming elections in the state alleging the Odisha government is not paying heed to the issues of cut-off areas of Malkangiri.

In an exclusive interview with OTV, CPI (Maoist) Kudumulugumma Division Committee secretary Rukhdhara urged people of the area to stay away from voting as the government has failed to address the basic problems of locals.

"In the cut-off areas, minimum necessities such as facilities for education, health and transport are yet to be fulfilled. People on the BPL list neither get rice at the right time nor have Indira Awaas Yojana houses to live. The government is not heeding their demands despite being informed several times," the Maoist leader alleged.

Once they get elected, the people's representatives are forgetting the public, Rukdhara added.
"They are targeting innocent people and trying to suppress people's movement. Leaders of people's movement are being harassed and termed Maoists," he said.
