Fourty-year-old Mina Palaka, who was active in the Maoist group as an area commander for the last 11 years, surrendered to the district police in presence of DIG (South-West range), Saumendra Priyadarshi.
Palaka was involved in the killing of two police officers, attacks on police stations and telephone towers, since 2008.
He was active in Kandhamal, Gajapati and Rayagada districts particularly at Chandrapur block area, said the DIG.
Palaka said that his two daughters who were members of Banshadhara division and Ghumshar division, 18-year-old Laxmi and 16-year-old Saraswati were sexually exploited by Maoists.
The police paid Rs 10,000 to each of them for surrendering.
