Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday arrested woman Maoist Vimla, wife of hardcore Maoist Sriramulu Srinivas who was held few days back. Sources said, Vimala, wanted in several cases was nabbed by the police from a railway station in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh.

A key leader of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoists), Vimla was secretary of Malkangiri-Kalimela area committee division and involved in many naxal activities, police said.

On March 24, she had managed to escape when police encountered the couple at a place in Khammam district.

Malkangiri police which had chased the couple moving in a jeep up to the border, informed the Andhra police about the movement of the ultras. After a fierce encounter, police nabbed Srinivas whose release was demanded by abductors of then Malkangiri collector Vineel Krishna in February 2011.
