Cuttack: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a regional centre of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in Cuttack. Nearly, 700 students will be enrolled for ITI and other polytechnic courses at the university’s regional centre here in the city.
Apart from promoting Urdu language, the university will also impart training in several vocational and technical courses under the skilled development programme. Earlier, Odisha government had allotted five acre land for the proposed Maulana Azad National Urdu University in CDA sector 13.
Official sources said Odisha government has assured to provide additional land for the extension of the centre in subsequent phases.
“The foundation stone for the new ITI and Polytechnic College under the aegis of Maulana Azad National Urdu University has been laid today. The State government has been consistently promoting technical education among the students of the minority and backward classes. The foundation stone for four hostels with a capacity for 1200 students was also laid,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik further informed that the objective of the Odisha government is to make 'Skilled in Odisha' a global brand. Already a tie-up has been made with Singapore to provide world class training to our students.
Maulana Azad National Urdu University Vice-chancellor, Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz and other dignitaries were present during the foundation stone-laying ceremony today.
Official sources said the centre will offer 2-year course in ITI and 3-year course in Polytechnic with an annual intake of 30 and 60 students in each trade. The students will also be imparted specialized training on civil, mechanical, electrical engineering, electronics and automobile engineering.
