Farmer ends life after consuming pesticide

Keonjhar: A farmer from Keonjhar has allegedly committed suicide after consuming pesticide.

According to family members, Purusottam Dehuri of Janardanpur village of Sadar block consumed pesticides in a bid to end his life. Purusottam was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition to Keonjhar district hospital, but he breathed his last today morning.

Sources said Purusottam had availed a loan from bank to cultivate tomatoes in his 2-acre land. Due to disappointing crop, Purusottam was under a lot of stress and sought assistance from his father. After his father expressed his inability to help, Purussotam took this extreme step, informed sources.
