Cuttack: Family members of the deceased youth Manoj Swain, who allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving train on Saturday, lodged a complaint against his alleged girlfriend today.

In their FIR filed with the GRP Police, Manoj's family members, who hail from Niali area, claimed that he was forced to take the extreme step as he was mentally disturbed after being betrayed by the girl, a native of Jajpur, with whom he was in a relationship for last few years.

"The girl was in a relationship with my brother for the last three years. However, we don't know why she broke up with him at the last moment and harassed him mentally," alleged Manoj's brother Binod Swain, adding that stringent action should be taken against the girl and her family members.

"While they were studying in Ravenshaw University the girl forced him to spend lot of money on her. Besides, she was torturing him mentally and refused to marry him due to which my nephew ended his life," said Manoj's uncle.

Based on the complaint, police is said to have recorded their statements. Besides, an investigating into the matter is underway.

Earlier on Saturday, Manoj’s body was recovered from the railway tracks near Matru Bhawan in Cuttack. In a video purportedly recorded by him just before his death, the youth alleged that he was forced to end his life as his 'lover' ignored him and decided to marry another guy.
