Cuttack: A team of Commissionerate Police, which arrested D-brothers’s close associate Bhola Bhagat in Kanpur two days ago, reached Cuttack with the gangsters' aide amid tight security today.

Bhagat will be produced before the court of sub-divisional judicial magistrate*SDJM) today, police said adding a 7-day remand will be sought to question him.

After arresting the key henchman of the criminal siblings, many important documents related to his business links with them were found, Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arrora said. More details will be unearthed during interrogation, he added.
“We will interrogate him over the information we got from the seized documents. We hope more information will come out”, Arora said.

The DCP said Bhagat, an accused in two murder and two extortion cases, is also involved in the murder of Dipu and Omm.

“We have the evidences that he was present during murder and disposal of the bodies of Omm and Dipu”, Arora pointed out.

Talking about his business link with gangster siblings, he said that D-brothers had a company named ‘Metal Syndicate’ in which Bhagat was a partner. “He had also played a key role in fixing tender with Ramky for Dhalasamant brothers”, the DCP told media persons.

The investigating team had tracked him (Bhagat) down while he was moving from Howrah to Kanpur in a train, Police Commissioner YB Khurania had said on Saturday while confirming the arrest.

Ever since the arrest of the duo on January 29 from Pokhariput area here, Bhagat, believed to be one of the key henchmen of D-brothers, was on the run.

Investigating officials said they expect to elicit information from Bhagat on the duo’s business empire both isiden and outside the State. Since preliminary investigations have revealed that the duo was frequenting Vizag, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata, Goa and Mumbai along with Bhagat on business trips, the latter will be able to give vital clues about their vast empire, they said.

Besides, the interrogation of Bhagat might lift the curtain on the criminal brothers’ investments in business units including Rs 200 crore in a Jhardugida-based sponge iron company.

During the interrogation, the D-brothers have also revealed that some of their aides are partners in the company. The Commissionerate Police has seized some documents pertaining to the stake of the D-brothers in the sponge iron company.
