Bolangir: Former Kantabanji MLA and senior Congress leader Santosh Singh Saluja today sustained grievous injuries in a deadly attack by a group of miscreants near Kantabanji in the district. His condition is said to critical.
According to sources, the incident happened around 10.30 am when Saluja along with his cousin Amarjit and a supporter was on a visit to a property which he had bought recently. According to sources, the property is said to be entangled in a dispute.
When Saluja reached the spot, some individuals attacked Saluja without any provocation, injuring him grievously on his shoulders, chest and thighs. Amarjit and the supporter were also attacked by the group. All the victims have been shifted to the government hospital here.
Hospital sources have said that though Saluja’s cousin and supporters are out of danger, the condition of the former legislator is still critical.
Meanwhile, police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the assaulters and trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Apart from property feud, they are also looking at the angle of political rivalry.
