Bhubaneswar: In a bid to enhance the efficiency of the Commissionerate police, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated the Modern Police Control Room here.

With the multi channel telephonic system in it, the operator can take more calls at a time and be in touch with the caller and the PCR van present at the nearest location of the caller. This would lessen the response time and help the police to alleviate crime rates and maintain law and order in the Capital.

“I think this will do a great deal of service for simplifying and make it quicker the security and the safety of the citizens of the city”, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Set up with the help of Interact Public Security Systems (IPSS), the control room is equipped with all the modern facilities. A total 30 trained constables and five officers are entrusted to operate the system.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police informed that this kind of system would soon be initiated at Cuttack and other cities of the state.

“It is a platform where we can implement an integrated command and control system in future when we will install CCTVs and focus the whole city by the cameras”, said police commissioner Bijay Kumar Sharma.
