Koraput: The students of Koraput Kendriya Vidyalaya along with their guardians complained of gross mismanagement by the school authorities during the Mathematics examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) held on Thursday.

As per the allegations of the guardians, the school authorities initially provided an answer sheet to the students but after about one and half hour the students were again asked to copy their answers in another answer sheet attached with graph paper.

The school authorities even promised to provide extra 15 minutes to the students to copy their answers in the new answer sheets, the guardians said.

However, the authorities retracted on their promise in the latter half of the examination causing distress to the students, the guardians alleged.

"The school authorities took away the initially-given answer sheets saying that it doesn't have graph sheets suitable for Maths paper. They further said that extra time would be provided to the students to copy their answers in the new sheets. However, they did not provide the extra time as said at the end of the exam," said Akshay Patra, a guardian.

Arakhit Biswal, Principal In-Charge, Koraput Kendriya Vidyalaya, said, "The parents had approached me with the complaint and I will forward the same to the higher authorities after which action will be taken."

On the other hand, Lingaraj Patnaik, Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Koraput refuted the charges while claiming that the students were given enough time to copy their answers in the new answer sheets. "We had given the students extra time to copy their answers. They were even asked if they had finished or not after which the answer sheets were collected," Patnaik said.
