Cuttack: With barely few hours left for the second phase of polling in Odisha, the Commissionerate Police on Tuesday evening seized Rs 64 lakh from two different places in the city.

While during a routine check police seized Rs 59 lakh five thousand from a car at Bajrakabati Road under Mangalabag PS, a similar kind of case was reported from Bellevue where Lalbag police recovered Rs 5 lakh from a vehicle in a search operation.

"Though the motive behind the transportation of such big amount of cash in vehicles is not known yet, we are investigating all angles including

whether the seized cash were meant to be used for disbursement among voters," said Sanjib Arora, Cuttack DCP.

In both the case, the drivers of both the vehicles were unable give satisfying answer about the seized money, sources said.

Notably, last Thursday, security personnel had seized Rs 5.40 lakh from a jeep during a routine check in front of Cuttack Sadar PS.
