Bolangir: Normal life has virtually come to a grinding halt in Bolangir on Monday due to the bandh call given by Lower Suktel Action Committee. Shops and commercial establishments remained closed while no transport system added much woe to the passengers.

Members of the committee were seen picketing at many places in the town and mobilizing common men. The demonstrators for the 8th consecutive day sat on dharna in front of the Collector’s office, paralysing the office work completely. Since no work could be furnished at the office, people were seen literally queuing up in front of the office.

With the Sunday meeting between the district Collector and the committee yielded no result, the committee which has been demanding for the speedy implementation of the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project, decided to go for a bandh on Monday.
