Bolangir: All government offices and establishments in Bolangir town today remained close due to the bandh called by Lower Suktel Irrigation Project Implementation Committee demanding early execution of Suktel irrigation project.
The protestors holding banners and placards sat on dharna in front of the Collectorate demanding compensation as well as proper rehabilitation of the displaced families. Thousands of protestors including women and children along with the leaders of the committee members participated in the protest.
It may be recalled that in May last year, after a review meeting of on-going major irrigation projects, the state government had directed concerned department officials to expedite the Lower Suktel Irrigation Project.
