Villagers block road after minor girl's body is found

Balasore: Tension ran high at Narlapatana under Remuna police station in the district after the body of a minor girl was found from the Sone river bed in the morning today.

Locals alleged that the six-year old girl was murdered after being raped by the miscreants. They staged a road blockade demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Later, the road was cleared after Remuna police assured the agitators of immediate action against the culprits.

"If police fail to arrest the culprit as per the promise, our agitation will intensify," a local said.

Sources said the minor girl, an orphan, was missing since yesterday.

Police said the body of the girl bears multiple injury marks. However, the reason of the crime can only be ascertained after investigation, they added.

"We have sent the body for post mortem. Three injury marks have been spotted on her body," a Remuna police official said.
