Bhubaneswar: The 36-hour nonstop second edition of Smart India Hackathon concluded at the CV Raman College of Engineering (CVRCE) in city on Sunday.

At least 350 students and 100 mentors participated in the two-day programme organized with the joint initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), reports said. R Subramaniyam, Secretary of MHRD also participated in the event.

"We have identified 28 centres across the country for Smart Indian Hackathon this year. The event received a fantastic response in which more than one lakh students participated in the different centres identified across the country," said Subramaniyam.

"More than 300 students from different parts of the country participated in the hackathon in CV Raman College in Bhubaneswar.

The participants worked on how to link the requirements of unemployed persons with the right employers and bridge the gap between youths and government in imparting skill development training programmes," added Subramaniyam.

Worth mentioning, hackathon is a competition organised in different nodal centres across the country where students come up with innovative digital solutions to different selected problems identified by various departments of the Central government.

The CVRCE was one among the 28 identified nodals centres in India which was selected to solve the 600 problems of the different departments of the Centre, reports added.
