Puri Suicide: Sadar Police books cases against Santanu's wife, her paramour

Puri: A day after detaining Santanu Patra's wife and her alleged lover Amaresh Swain in connection with Santanu's suicide in Gudibhingura village in Puri, Sadar Police today registered cases against the duo and has expedited probe into the incident.

Police sources said Santanu's wife and Swain have been booked under Sections 306, 506, 34 of Indian Penal Code.

Though cases have been registered against the duo, investigation and interrogation is still on to find out the actual cause of his suicide.

Asked, Swain said, ‘’My family as well as the girl’s family members knew about us. Because of my brother’s marriage, my marriage got delayed and the girl married Santanu. However, there is no such affair going on now. Her husband might have committed suicide only because of his suspicion about his wife.”

On November 9, Santanu Patra, an engineer working in an IT firm in Bengaluru shot a 15-minute video and went Facebook Live in which he accused his wife of having an extra-marital affair.

In the video, the techie said his wife’s illicit affair has destroyed his life and image in society. Santanu also alleged that his wife’s family members were mentally torturing him after he discovered his wife’s infidelity.
