Police SI injured in group clash between two villages

Balasore: A police officer fell prey to a violent clash between two villages, Kalma and Bankatira, under Sadar police limits in Balasore district today.

As per sources, after getting information of a group clash between the two villages, Haldipada police outpost in-charge, Sub Inspector Rajendra Nayak, arrived at the spot to control the situation.

However, irate villagers ransacked the police vehicle and beat Nayak severely. Injured Nayak was rushed to a nearby hospital by the police personnel who had accompanied him.

Two other police personnel and two villagers, injured in the group clash, are also undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Meanwhile, two platoons police force has been deployed in the area and seven persons have been arrested.
