Bhubaneswar: A delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday moved the State Election Commission (SEC) in connection with the violence during the campaigning for the Hindol NAC poll.

In a memorandum, BJP leaders alleged that their party workers were misbehaved and attacked by BJD activists during campaigning at ward no 7 yesterday.

Two BJP workers have been injured in the attack, the party alleged before the SEC.

“Our former MP Rudra Pani and other workers were busy in campaigning when BJD activists attacked them in ward no 7. The police administration is providing security to BJD men whereas our women activists are being manhandled,” said BJP vice-president Samir Mohanty.

BJP has further alleged that BJD is trying to create unrest ahead of the Hindol NAC polls and they have demanded urgent measures by the Election Commission for ensuring a free and fair election.

BJD on the other hand refuted such allegations leveled by BJP.

“No such incident has occurred as I was present on the spot and such allegations of BJP are completely baseless,” said Sagarika Mishra, State secretary Biju Mahila Janata Dal.
