Bhubaneswar: Neither psychosis nor any mental disorder was the reason behind the suicide attempt of the girl student of Nursing in Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital. Rather, it is being alleged that the girl was abused by a kitchen boy and after she brought the matter to the college principal, she was scolded which forced her to take

the extreme step.

Police have detained the accused kitchen boy identified as Laxmana Bala.

"A case has been registered as per the complaint of the girl's mother. We have detained one hostel staff and our investigation is on," said Bhubaneswar DCP, Anup Kumar Sahu.

As per reports, the third year student of BSc., Nursing was allegedly misbehaved with by a kitchen boy in the college when she was talking over phone on the terrace of the college building.

After the incident, she complained to the principal. However, it is alleged that the principal of Hi-Tech Nursing College, Asishbala Mohapatra, instead of taking action against the boy shouted at the girl and even termed her 'characterless.'

Refuting the allegations, Asishbala had earlier said that the girl was a psychosis patient and she used to faint and babble.

However, today she took a u-turn and said that she had only mentioned that the girl might be taking some neurological medicines.

Meanwhile, the girl’s mother said "I demand the arrest of the college principal as it is because of her that my daughter took such a step. I also want the college to bear all her medical expenses."

The girl is presently undergoing treatment and her condition is said to be still critical.
