Bhubaneswar: Resentment continues brewing over reduction in marks even after re-evaluation of CBSE Class 12 answer sheets with a girl student allegedly attempting suicide here on Monday.

According to reports, a CBSE Class 12 student protesting the discrepancies in results tried to end her life by consuming ‘excess medicines’ in Bhubaneswar. She is now undergoing treatment at a private hospital after her condition deteriorated due to the alleged medicine overdose.

This is for the second time that a student has attempted to end life over the alleged discrepancies in publication of CBSE results on May 28.

Earlier, another student had also attempted suicide by trying to set himself ablaze in front of the CBSE regional office here on June 6.

The CBSE Class 12 fiasco has further entangled in controversy in Odisha after the marks of few students dropped compared to their previous scores after re-evaluation.

CBSE had yesterday mailed the re-evaluated marks to 18 students who had earlier moved High Court seeking re-evaluation of their answer copies. As per reports, the marks of only three students got increased after the re-checking.

However, CBSE advocate Taranand Patnaik claimed that, ‘CBSE discharges its duty in a transparent manner and re-evaluation has again proved it as the marks of only 3 students out of 18 has increased.”

In another development, Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) today served a show-case to CBSE on the discrepancies in results basing on the petition filed by some students and parents association on the issue.
