Bhubaneswar: In another jolt to the Panda Infra Company, the Vigilance officials on Tuesday started probe into the alleged sub-standard work in the execution of the ongoing Jatni overbridge project.

The move comes after the Jatni Traders’ Association levelled allegations of low quality work carried out by the agency in construction of the much anticipated overbridge project.

As a proof for its accusations, the association members submitted a CCTV video footage to the Vigilance sleuths which has visuals of the construction work.

Vigilance officials informed that CCTV hard disk and other information in support of the allegations will be sent to forensic laboratory for examination. The probing agency is likely to take stock of the quality of the work undertaken, alleged flaws in the construction of the overbridge and other irregularities.

Meanwhile, the BJP activists today took to streets demanding arrest of Public Works Department’s secretary, chief engineer and other officials for irregularities in the construction of Bomikhal flyover project.

Workers of the saffron party observed a relay fast under the flyover and urged the Chief Minister to immediately intervene in the matter and direct for immediate arrest of the culprits after a quality check of the project by experts from IIT Chennai.

“The Works Secretary is to be blamed for illegally promoting the Panda Infra to carry out the project despite first mishap in September last year. The safety and quality of the flyover work should be checked by experts from IIT Chennai," said BJP district president Harekrushna Khuntia.

Earlier on Monday, the State Government informed that it is contemplating to bar the contractor agency from executing the pending construction works of Bomikhal Flyover.
