Jajpur: Alleging involvement of two cops in the abduction of a minor girl from Dharmasala in Jajpur district, BJP today targeted the Superintendent of Police. The saffron party also demanded dismissal of the cops currently posted at Dharmasala Police Station who allegedly connived with the arrested accused to abduct the minor.

State BJP secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar today said, "The building near the Bajrangi Ladies Corner has now been declared illegal by the administration. Why it was not done earlier? The girl was first held up in the building and physically harassed. From the statement of the girl, it seems several other girls were also brought to the building and physically harassed to force them into flesh trade."

Jajpur SP, who had earlier given anti-women statements, has failed to take steps to provide safety and security to women in the district, alleged Lekhashree adding, "We demand an impartial inquiry into the incident and stern action against the accused.

"I met the family members of the girl yesterday, and also visited the police station where the sister and brother-in-law of the main accused are currently posted. We came to know that police kept the victim at the police station for days after she was rescued by her father. We questioned on what basis did the police kept the girl at the police station for two days," said Congress' Pradip Majhi.

Citing the girl's statement, he further alleged that some cops are involved in the crime. "Congress is going to take a strong stand on the issue and resort to protests," Majhi added.
