Bhubaneswar: Ruling BJD MLA from Baripada in Mayurbhanj district, Sananda Marandi is all set to be the new Deputy Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly, the formal announcement of which will be made on the first day of the monsoon session starting on Wednesday. As Marandi on Tuesday filed a nomination paper for the post of deputy speaker of the state assembly.
The motion was submitted by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Raghu Nath Mohanty in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other Ministers, MLAs, and party leaders. Chief Whip Rabi Naryan Pani was the seconder of the candidature of Marandi.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had announced the name of Marandi for the post of Deputy Speaker which was vacant following Lal Bihari Himrika joining the Council of Ministers as Cabinet Minister.
