Bhubaneswar: Careless handling of pet animal proved costly for a man in the State capital with the Commissionerate Police on Friday informing that it has booked him for walking his dog inside the premises of an ancient temple.

A case has been registered against a local resident of Bhubaneswar named Tofan Samantray under the Odisha Urban Police Act as per the directive issued by Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi, the Commissionerate Police informed through a tweet.

Recently, Tofan was spotted strolling with his pet dog incident near the protected monument of Sri Bakreswar Mahadev, a photograph of which went viral on social media. The picture triggered widespread resentment with netizens from all quarters of society demanding stringent action against him.

The police mentioned the incident as unsavoury and also advised citizens to be responsible in handling pets.
