G Srinivas would make obscene gestures and make unwarranted phone calls to the girls of Hanumannagar locality in Godavarikhani town, nearly 70km from here, they said.

Locals caught hold of the 21-year-old, tied him to a tree and thrashed him, police said.

He was later taken into custody by the police.
