Phulbani: Two Maoists, a father-son duo, allegedly involved in several offences, were arrested and huge quantity of naxalite literature recovered from them in Kandhamal district on Wednesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of the the accused at Ranabakarada and picked up the duo, identified as Ramesh Nayak (42) and his son Jitendra (2), IIC of Raikia police station R N Barik said.

Several Maoist literature including posters, leaflets and pamphlets were seized from the house during the raid.

During interrogation, both admitted their involvement in an attack on a forest range office at Barba in Raikia area in February, 2009, Barik said adding they were also involved in critically injuring a chowkidar in the area last year.

The two were forwarded to the court which sent them on jail remand.
