Promising batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal (143 n o, 14x4) became the fourth-youngest Indian to score century on Test debut on Thursday against West Indies at the Windson Park in Dominica on Day two of the ongoing first Test. 

Flamboyant Prithvi Shaw was the youngest Indian to score a century on Test debut in 2018. He was just 18 then. Shaw also started his career against West Indies incidentally.

Jaiwal started from his overnight score of 40 . He took a bit of time initially on the second day, before opening his arms against the hosts. The southpaw, who is coming off a double century in India’s first-class cricket, started off from where he left.

Jaiswal looked confident, composed and his clean stroke-play caught the attention of everyone. He stitched together a partnership of 229 runs for the opening partnership along with captain Rohit Sharma (103, 10x4, 2x6). This was also India’s first century stand in Tests for the opening wicket for the first time in 13 matches.

At stumps of Day two, India were on a strong position with 312 for the loss of two wickets with a healthy 162 run lead. Star batsman Virat Kohli (36 no, 1x4) is occupying the crease along with Jaiswal. Shubman Gill (6) was the other batsman to get out.
